Gresham-Barlow School District collects 70 boxes of school supplies for Texas students impacted by Hurricane Harvey

Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce, SERVPRO, Gresham Police and B4 Logistics partner on outreach project

The Gresham-Barlow School District, along with the Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce, Gresham SERVPRO, Gresham Police and B4 Logistics teamed up during September to donate and deliver more than 70 boxes of donated school supplies to the Houston Independent School District following Hurricane Harvey. Donation boxes were placed at all 18 Gresham-Barlow schools, the Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce Office, and the Gresham Police Department, where students and community members could drop-off donation items.

Gresham-Barlow School District Superintendent Dr. A. Katrise Perera lived and worked in Houston prior to moving to Oregon this summer and has close ties with the school districts in the area.

“These donations will help Houston area schools as they work to recover from the devastating impacts of Hurricane Harvey,” said Dr. Perera. “I am grateful to our community partners who assisted us in this effort. I hope these donations remind the students and staff in Houston that people from across the country are thinking of them during this challenging time.”

The supplies were boxed up with help from SERVPRO of Gresham. Chris Cornell from B4 Logistics coordinated with the Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce to organize the shipment and delivery to Houston.

Donated items should arrive in Houston the week of October 23.
